January 6th, 2022

Hello Horizon Families,

Happy New Year to you all!

Following Alberta Education’s announcement yesterday, we are pleased to be able to welcome students back to school starting on Monday, January 10th to resume regular classes.

As we have always done, we will continue to follow Chinook’s Edge School Division’s safety protocols, which have been developed in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines. Current information is available through the COVID-19 Information section of the CESD website, including the AHS Daily Checklist. It continues to be essential that all staff and students complete the checklist daily and stay home if they have any symptoms. Limiting the spread of illness at school gives us the greatest chance of being able to continue with in-person learning, which is our most desired outcome. We thank you all for the tremendous support that you have provided in this area throughout the past two years.

As announced by the Minister of Education yesterday, in addition to medical grade masks, all students will receive a box of 5 rapid tests that can be used at home if they become sick and require testing. We have been advised that we will receive these at some point next week, and we will send these home with your child as soon as they are received at school. If you do not require these tests (e.g. you already have a sufficient number of tests at home), you can simply return them to the school with your child.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at the school (403-556-6310).
